New Year Brings Thousands of Public Job Opportunities in Spain for 2025

As the new year begins, many individuals in Spain are contemplating the prospect of new employment, particularly those who have dedicated time to prepare for public service examinations. The commencement of a new year typically signals the release of new competitive examination announcements by the Official State Gazette (BOE) for public sector positions.

This year, the BOE has published a series of significant selection processes, offering thousands of positions across various open calls. All available opportunities can be accessed directly through the BOE or via a user-friendly public employment search engine.

1,250 Positions for the Social Security Administration's Administrative Body

Launched by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration, a recent announcement in late December outlines the availability of 1,250 positions for entry into the Social Security Administration's Administrative Body through open access, along with an additional 670 positions designated for internal promotion.

Of the total positions available via open access, 100 are reserved for candidates who meet the legal definition of persons with disabilities possessing a degree of at least 33%. Similarly, for the internal promotion route, 54 positions are set aside for individuals with disabilities.

Eligibility for these roles requires a minimum educational qualification of a high school diploma, technical degree, or equivalent. The application period is open until January 30, 2025.

855 Positions for the Processing and Administrative Bodies

The Ministry of the Presidency, Justice, and Relations with the Cortes has initiated selection processes for several roles within the judicial administration, including:

  • 731 positions for the Administrative Management Body.
  • 855 positions for the Processing and Administrative Body.
  • 726 positions for the Judicial Aid Body.

A portion of these roles is also reserved for candidates with disabilities equal to or exceeding 33%. For the Administrative Management Body, a degree is required, while candidates for the Processing Body must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. Those applying for the Judicial Aid Body need to have completed secondary education. Applications will be accepted until January 21, 2025.

851 Positions for the General Administrative Body of the State

The Ministry of Finance has announced the opening of 851 positions via open access, in addition to 443 for internal promotion, aimed at recruitment for the General Administrative Body of the State, specifically for roles as Public Revenue Agents.

Applicants must have completed at least a high school education or possess a technical qualification. The deadline for submitting applications is January 28, 2025.

539 Positions for the General Auxiliary Administrative Body of the State

The Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function has called for applications to fill 539 roles within the General Auxiliary Administrative Body of the State, as part of a broader recruitment initiative across various administrative bodies.

Among these positions, 51 are earmarked for candidates with disabilities. To qualify, applicants must have completed secondary education, and the application window closes on January 21, 2025.

160 Positions for Customs Surveillance Agents

The Ministry of Finance is also recruiting for the Customs Surveillance Agents' Body, offering 160 positions for the Investigation specialty and 50 for the Maritime specialty.

To qualify for the Maritime specialty, candidates must hold a professional title as a Seafarer (Bridge, Machines, or Fisherman), whereas applicants for the Investigation specialty need only a high school diploma or technical qualification. The application deadline is set for January 28, 2025.

This year, Spain aims to meet European employment standards by stabilizing over 320,000 public sector employees, reinforcing its commitment to public service and employment.
