Second half comeback keys victory

Karlsruhe, November 28 -   Robert Garrett scored 16 points as Bayern Basketball overcame a slow start to win 79-59 at the Europahalle Sunday afternoon.  The win keeps Bayern on top of the ProA table with 19 points.

The match marked the return of German national team captain Steffen Hamann to Bayern's starting lineup who broke a bone in his foot on opening night September 25th.  Hamann with Aleksandar Nadjfeji and Jonathan Wallace sparked an 8-0 run in the third quarter to key the comeback.  Bastian Doreth hit two treys to put Bayern on top by the end of the quarter, 58-50.  Doreth, the beneficiary of Hamann's absence with playing time and has developed as key player, finished with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point land.

Hamann and Wallace both finished with 9 point a piece, Nadjfeji scored 14 points, and Darius Hall added 10 points and 6 rebounds.  Hall's foul trouble in the first half helped Karlsruhe to control the boards and the match and take a halftime lead, 34-29.  Munich was able to outrebound the hosts 25-14 in the second half and with their hot shooting, Bayern closed out the 4th quarter on a 21-9 run and won their fourth match in a row.

Munich are in Homburg next Sunday to take on the Saar-Pfalz-Braves.  The next home match is on December 11th when the GiroLive Ballers from Osnabrück visit the Eissportzentrum.  The match is sold out.
