Due to low infection figures, many German states have relaxed their Corona regulations, and clubs have also been allowed to reopen their indoor areas for some time. At the same time, reports of Corona outbreaks in discos are increasing. In Lower Saxony, where indoor dancing has been allowed again since the beginning of June, infection figures are rising, especially among young people.

In the Hannover region, 3000 people are currently in domestic quarantine because they had been in discos, clubs or bars with an infected person. This is reported by NDR and other local media. In one case, an infected person had infected 25 other people at a party.

This puts the health department in a difficult position, a spokesman told NDR. If, for example, two infected people had partied in a discotheque with 500 other people, then all 500 people would have to be contacted. In such cases, the coronavirus could also spread quickly among the population. In one case, the health department found so many subsequent infections that the infected people no longer had anything to do with the people from the club.

Also in Osnabrück, a man infected with Corona partied in a discotheque. Now more than 400 visitors could be sent into quarantine. That depends on which virus variant the disco visitor had, a city spokeswoman told dpa on Friday. In the case of the delta variant, those who had been vaccinated and those who had recovered would be exempt from quarantine; in the case of the more infectious gamma variant, they would also have to be quarantined. The evaluation is expected to be completed on Monday.

According to the information, a total of about 405 people from the Osnabrück region had contact with the visitor, who came from the district of Vechta. In the meantime, an infection has been detected in him, and in the meantime, he is also showing symptoms of the disease, it said.

In the night from last Saturday to Sunday, 1370 people had registered via app in the discotheque. The quarantine of those affected will last until August 1, he said. During this period, they are to be tested twice. How many more affected people come from other counties and regions, the city does not know, said the spokeswoman.

Many young people infected in Lower Saxony

The coronavirus is spreading in Lower Saxony, especially among young people. According to a report by NDR, every second person infected with corona is between 15 and 29 years old. Especially in this age group, the vaccination rate is low.Lower Saxony is now considering adjusting the Corona rules. It is necessary to react to the rising infection figures in some regions at a "worrying pace", said deputy government spokeswoman Kathrin Riggert in Hanover on Friday. The aim, she said, is to avoid a situation where rising incidence levels soon mean that areas are affected by restrictions "that have nothing whatsoever to do with the development of the infectious event," while others are driving the pandemic.

As an example, she cited dance events, where outbreaks have occurred repeatedly in the past. Specifically, discos, clubs, bars and shisha establishments should be required to close again if the incidence exceeds 10. Previously, the limit was 35.Clubs in North Rhine-Westphalia have also been allowed to reopen since July 9. Here, too, there were outbreaks. In Aachen, 900 club-goers had to be quarantined after infected people were in a club on two evenings, WDR reports.Likewise in Baden-Württemberg. There, clubs with up to 30 percent of the permitted capacity are allowed to open if the seven-day incidence is below 10.

34 Delta infected after club night in Karlsruhe

At the beginning of July, an outbreak had occurred in a club in Karlsruhe: 200 people had partied there on the night of July 2, among them an infected Mallorca vacationer. Later, the coronavirus was detected in 34 people; all infections were of the delta variant. Six of the affected persons had been infected despite double vaccination.

As reported by SWR, 25 of those infected are said to have contracted the virus directly in the club, all others are said to have had further contacts. According to the district office, tracing the party guests proved to be very difficult because the data collection was done by paper. Every second piece of paper was not readily usable because the information was incorrect or incomplete, explained Peter Friebel, head of the health department.A neighboring European country also had bad experiences with club openings. In the Netherlands, clubs had to close again on July 10 just two weeks after reopening because of rising infection figures.
